I would be very interested in seeing a bom and plans for this repstrap. I think I could use it for a Dremel CNC and change tools to extrude also. Please share the plans and I will build one.

Thanks

Mark, I appreciate the effort to promote your store in a subtle way but all the parts I saw on your ebay store were more expensive than either mcmaster carr or the two distributors by easily 10% or 20% not including shipping which is extremely inexpensive from those sources. Buyers beware and YMMV. Florida motion control (flomoco.com) offers instant quoting online and direct linking with a sketchup library of components (awesome!). Our local distributor (copper state) is a little cheaper but the ordering is really complicated without the online tool. 8020 has demo carts with all the parts and fittings which you can go see at your local distributor or they will even bring directly to you. It is a pretty amazing system.

I should've noted that you can find a link to our eBay Store on the www.8020.net site or go direct using this link: http://stores.ebay.com/8020-Inc-Garage-Sale?refid=store

Just an FYI. Sorry if it sounds like a commercial but it looks like some of you are searching for a good source...I'm from the 80/20 Surplus eBay store. We sell a significant amount of surplus 80/20 parts and extrusions. A lot of it is quite inexpensive, especially auction listings. We offer a lot of new product as well and, we can add catalog items to your order if you don't find it in the store. 80/20 is also available from distributors around the country as well as national sources like McMaster-Carr and Fastenal. You can find a distributor in your area by visiting the www.8020.net site.

I just found your site are I am working on the exact same concept. Rather than intending to use rods and linear bearings I am experimenting with the bearing pads that use the t-channel directly.

You may want to take a look at the t-slot accessories on mcmaster (particular the 2 way and 3 way corner joins). Also check out there bearing guides (in a separate section), 8020 has those as well.

I am curious on pricing, whether mcmaster or 8020 is cheaper.

I see you are in CA, if you are going down to SCALE in LA on the 20/21 I'd be happy to buy you a beer.

Hi Tim,
A college flipped me a link to your site, impressive work!
I am behind the CubeSpawn project, and wonder if you'd have any inclination to look at adapting a version of the design to fit it?
feedback appreciated
James

Most excellent. When I originally looked at RepRap my first urge was to go the Aluminium extrusion route. Being short of cash at the time though I abandoned it. There was only the Darwin around at the time. It would be fun to do a Mendel in this stuff though, with PTFE sliders.
