T-Rep 2 Prototype 15

Posted by Tim on April 13, 2010

Last week we finished assembling the latest T-Rep prototype. To celebrate, we cleaned it up and took some nice photos:

We’ve been printing with it for the last few days and are very happy with the operation. I’ll try to post some video later this week.

Truly a work of art. I feel like you’re teasing me with these photos, but not giving any more information. Haha. I absolutely must know more about this machine. I look forward to released schematics, parts list, documentation, etc. I’m eager to build my own.

Wow, looks very simple in design! It looks, however, that the Z-axis motor would require a lot of torque to move the z-axis up.

Looks very nice! I hope you’re gonna put up details and parts list? :)

I noticed the word “Prototype”. Will you be selling kits? If so, I would volunteer to be a Beta tester if you go that route.

Trevor & Eric: Thanks for the kind words! We will be releasing more info soon. We are focused on being ready for the MakerFaire in late May.

Airplane Guy: So far, the z-axis is working pretty well. With the threaded drive screws, the motor has quite a bit of mechanical advantage to lift the stage. And we can always add larger pulleys to gain more torque.

Brian: We will definitely be looking for beta testers. Stay tuned!

This looks really nice. Just a small point though. The Z axis drive motor and belt might be better positioned at the top of the machine. This way there is one less belt that will get covered with debris when machining or rapid prototyping…..Oh yes and maybe some led spot lights in the corners to show off the really professional engineering.

Count me with Brian as a Beta tester volunteer!

Really nice. Didn’t think you could make it better than your first. I think you did.

    One more beta tester…….hurry!

Just going to reuse the T-Slot’s z-axis?

Doh! I obviously was in too big of a hurry…..The x-axis is looks great.

I’ve been resisting the belt and pulley construction and have been trying to develop a cable drive. Think with this design that it’s time to give in.

Been pouring over your site and investigating water jet tech. Good choice there.

What extruder are you using? Did your design work out?

    Eagerly awaiting video.

I have drawn a look alike to you t-rap in Sketchup7. Want to take a look at it? If you have Sketchup7 download the link below. Some changes. Can’t leave it alone.

Wow i just run into this blog thru Youtube – any news/updates about beta testers or buying a kit?

What is the Z resolution in the best fine mode? (please point me to organic models created with this 3D printer with finer mode)

I’m a designer and this looks awesome!

    Thanks!
